Marianne Wiklander, ART Leader
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am an ART Leader for the Plan & Manage ART at Zenseact. We're a team of about 100 passionate people who come together daily, bringing energy and dedication to building a great product.
Could you describe your product area and its role within Zenseact’s software system?
We bring in all the information the car sees from its various sensors and determine the best and safest possible path to drive. Our job is to decide whether or not to activate certain features, essentially helping the car make the safest decisions on the road.
What real-world problems does your product area solve?
Our goal is to provide a comfortable journey for the driver, but most importantly, we aim to do it in the safest way possible. That’s where our strength lies: making safe automation a reality.
How do you approach leadership?
Leadership is very close to my heart. I don’t think of it as a role – it’s something you are. Whether you’re a developer or a manager, anyone can be a leader. To me, leadership is a privilege, but it’s also a responsibility. The most essential part of it is trust. Without trust, leadership simply doesn’t work – it's like trying to run a society with corruption.
Trust has to go both ways: if you want people to trust you, you must trust them. Innovation and productivity thrive when people are trusted to be the best versions of themselves. That’s the core of our "people at heart" culture at Zenseact – helping each other grow, which naturally leads to creativity and performance.
I see leadership as a form of craftsmanship – it's a skill that you can grow and improve every day. You never really 'arrive' as a leader; there's always something new to learn. That idea really inspires me. I also appreciate seeing leaders, both here and elsewhere, who are committed to continuous learning. It motivates me to keep growing too.
What makes you smile at work?
Definitely, my colleagues! It’s such a joy to come to work and have fun with the people around me. That positive energy really helps us deliver our best.
Which one of our company values means the most to you and why?
For me, the most meaningful value is trust. It’s the key ingredient in everything we do, especially in leadership. Without it, we lose our foundation. With it, we can go far – together.
