Senior Platform Engineer
Join Zenseact's Software Factory Platform Team: Shape the Future of Software Development!
Be part of a transformative cloud migration journey at Zenseact! We're seeking a Platform Engineer to join Team Freebird in modernizing our Software Factory infrastructure by moving from on-premises to AWS cloud, implementing modern DevOps practices, and building a robust cloud platform from the ground up.
What is Software Factory?
Software Factory is our development and delivery platform that powers Zenseact's journey from code to production vehicles. As the backbone of our development process, it orchestrates a sophisticated CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests, and delivers our Autonomous Driving and Advanced Driver Assist Systems software with precision and reliability.
To accomplish this, we leverage cutting-edge technologies like Bazel for efficient compilation and caching, container orchestration with Kubernetes for scalable workloads, Continuous integration pipelines that validate every code change, Artifact management and distribution systems, monitoring and observability solutions, self-service developer tools and services. The Software Factory team maintains the hybrid setup of in-house developed and upstream tools ecosystem to continuously improve developer experience, automation, and delivery speed. We're now embarking on an exciting modernization journey, migrating our platform from on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud services, embracing modern DevOps practices and cloud-native architectures.
Insights from team Freebird
We're a newly formed platform engineering team leading Zenseact's cloud transformation journey. Our mission is to migrate the Software Factory from its current on-premises infrastructure (running on VMs and Kubernetes) to a modern, cloud-native platform built on AWS EKS. We're building more than just infrastructure - we're creating a robust cloud foundation that emphasizes security, governance, and developer experience.
Trust and autonomy are key to how we operate in Team Freebird. We own our roadmap, our processes, and most importantly, our mistakes. While we are committed and embrace innovation, we're pragmatic in our approach, —choosing battle-tested solutions over custom builds when possible.
We are looking for someone with industry experience in DevOps and platform engineering who is curious, proactive, and open to new perspectives. Our team isn’t tied to specific tools or solutions—we focus on finding the most effective ones. We iterate quickly, encourage experimentation, and continuously refine our approach while keeping user experience at the center. As we transition to the cloud, experience with cloud migrations or working in cloud environments would be beneficial.
Your mission and day-to-day tasks
- Influence and Grow: Take an active role in shaping both our roadmap and your career trajectory.
- Enhance Developer Experience: Collaborate with our team to improve our CI environment and overall developer experience.
- Own the Process: Drive projects from initial ideation to production, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
- Mentorship and Collaboration: Mentor and support team members, contribute to design discussions, and work closely with the team to develop robust solutions.
What’s in it for you
- Enjoy a flexible work approach and a genuinely good work/life balance. We do our best, when all individuals feel their best
- A competitive compensation and benefits package
- Work at the forefront of tech in one of Sweden’s biggest and most interesting and dynamic AI/ML-companies

- Experience with continuous integration tools and pipelining.
More about Zenseact
Our software makes a difference.
Using AI-based technology to create the ultimate driver support, we’re fighting to end car accidents and make roads safe for everyone. Every year, around 1,4 million people die in traffic while approximately 50 million people get injured. Many get disabled as a result of their injury. We can do better.
One purpose, one product.
We’re a software company dedicated to revolutionizing car safety. By designing the complete software stack for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems, we’re fighting to end car accidents and make roads safe for everyone. Zenseact was founded by Volvo Cars, and the teams are based in Gothenburg and Lund, Sweden, Munich in Germany and Shanghai, China. When we aim for zero accidents faster, we strive to speed up the transition to safe automation. This is essentially achieved by making cars updatable – like a computer or a phone. With regular software updates, a vehicle can be made safer long after its production. By accelerating improvement loops, shortening development cycles, and deploying high-capacity software quickly, we can make cars safer, and faster.
Culture with people at heart
To achieve our mission of saving lives and ending traffic accidents we must go where nobody has before. It requires us to venture into the unknown, pioneering new technology and pushing the frontier of autonomous driving. While there’s no denying our determination and expertise, we must stand united to succeed. By fostering a culture of support and enablement – a place of psychological safety where all of us can thrive – everything else will follow. We call this a people-at-heart culture. This culture means caring. It means the company cares about me, and we care about one another. It means sharing, so we give each other energy and have fun together. Our culture is also about belonging. It’s important to feel at home and that we can be ourselves at work. Finally, a people-at-heart culture means well-being. So, we enjoy the flexibility needed to be and do our best – at work and in life.
Zenseact works proactively to create a culture of diversity and inclusion, where individual differences are appreciated and respected. To drive innovation we see diversity as an asset, which means we value and respect differences in gender, race, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age, etc.
Interviews are held continuously, so we highly recommend that you submit your application at your earliest convenience.
